Words to read at a hospital bedside

Friend, you don't have to be strong right now. This room is quiet, and God is here in it. Listen to what David wrote: He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. (Psalms 23:2-3) Notice who does the work. The shepherd leads. The sheep only rests. And when the road turns dark, hear this: Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. (Psalms 23:4) Not around the valley. Through it. And not alone. Today, let your only task be to rest in that. He is with you. Let's pray. Father, You are the good Shepherd. Be near to this dear one now. Give rest, ease pain, and hold this soul in Your hands. In Jesus' name, amen.
